2019 was a year of extremes. We celebrated 100 years since the founding of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), at a time when humanitarian needs have never been greater. Throughout 2019, the world faced interconnected and compounding emergencies, driven mostly by extreme climate related disasters and conflict, that resulted in highest number of internally displaced people on record.

The impacts of climate change are already devastating lives and livelihoods every year, and they will only get worse without immediate and determined action. The World Disasters Report 2020 analyses climate disaster trends and shows how we can tackle the humanitarian impacts of the climate crisis together.
